Secure Notes protects saved notes on your device, encrypts note content before cloud sync, and works with your device security. This page also explains the current recovery limits in V1.
Encrypted before sync
Secure Sync uses separate protection from your on-device notes. Your titles, note text, tags and checklists are encrypted on your device before they are sent online.
What the sync service receives
The sync service receives encrypted note data plus limited information needed to keep changes and deletions in sync. It is not designed to receive readable note titles, text, tags or checklists.
App Lock
Use your device PIN, fingerprint or other supported screen-lock method to unlock Secure Notes. You can choose how soon the app locks after you leave it.
Screenshot protection
On Android, Secure Notes can help keep sensitive screens out of screenshots and Recent Apps previews.
Sign in without a password
Secure Notes sends a six-digit verification code to your email address instead of asking you to create an account password.
Important V1 recovery limitation
Recovery after a reinstall or move to a new device is not yet guaranteed.
In V1, the key needed to unlock your encrypted notes is kept on your device. Secure Notes does not yet promise recovery of encrypted notes after reinstalling the app, replacing your device or setting up another device.
Security depends on the whole device.
Secure Notes adds extra protection, but no app can guarantee security if the device itself is no longer secure. Keep your operating system updated, use a screen lock, protect your email account and be careful who can physically access your device.
